See The List – Deadline

It’s all led to this.

The 95th annual Academy Awards are being handed out tonight at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and Deadline is posting the winners as they’re announced. Check out the list below.

Jamie Lee Curtis won her first career Oscar, for her supporting role in A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, right after her co-star Ke Huy Quan completed his dream awards season — and an unlikely comeback — with an expected for Best Supporting Actor. “I almost gave up on my [dream,]” he said onstage. “To all of you out there: Please keep your dreams alive.”

Curtis name-checked the important people in her life, including her late parents Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, emphasizing, “We just won an Oscar!”

That makes Everything Everywhere All at Once, which comes into the ceremony with a leading 11 nominations, the sole double winner thus far.

James Friend scooped the Cinematography Oscar for All Quiet on the Western Front, beating nominees including Elvis’ Mandy Walker. She took the ASC Award last week and was looking to be the first woman to win the Academy Award in the category. Germany’s All Quiet also took the International Feature Film award. It’s the third win for the country in that category, following Nowhere in Africa (2002) and The Tin Drum (1979, for West Germany).

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio took home the first trophy of the night, for Animated Feature. The Netflix pic is the first for a streamer to win in the category. “Animation is cinema,” Guillermo del Toro said in accepting. “Animation is not a genre and animation is ready to be taken to the next step. We are all ready for it. Please help us keep animation in the conversation.”

Ruth Carter won her second Costume Design Oscar for Disney’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her first was for Black Panther four years ago. She is the first Black woman to win two Academy Awards. The team behind A24’s The Whale who transformed Brendan Fraser into a 600-pounder took the Academy Award for Makeup and Hairstyling.

Warner Bros’ Navalny, the story of Russian dissident and assassination target Alexei Navalny, won for Documentary Feature. His wife, Yulia Navalnaya, was onstage and said, “My husband is in prison just for telling the truth. My husband is in prison just for defending democracy. Alexei, I’m dreaming of the day when you will be free and our country will be free. Stay strong.”

On the short-film front The Boy, The Mole, The Fox And The Horse won the Animation prize, An Irish Goodbye scored the Live-Action trophy — and sang “Happy Birthday to You” to its subject, James Martin — and The Elephant Whisperers won for Documentary.

A24 and Netflix are tied among distributors with three wins each thus far.

This year’s Best Picture nominees included a wide range of pics from the big studios, the streamers and the indies: All Quiet on the Western Front, Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, Triangle of Sadness and Women Talking. Read Deadline’s reviews of all 10 Bec Pic nominees here.

There’s also a serious tussle for Best Actor, with Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Austin Butler (Elvis) and Brendan Fraser (The Whale) leading a field that also includes Bill Night (Living) and Paul Mescal (Aftersun). It’s pretty much a two-woman race for Best Actress, with Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Cate Blanchettt (Tár) having had strong awards-season runs so far. They’re vying for the statuette against Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) and Michelle Williams in (The Fabelmans).

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting Hollywood’s Big Night for a third time, and ABC is airing it live coast-to-coast from the Dolby Theatre. For how to watch the ceremony online, click here. See all of the nominees here.
